Trust in the Lord

“Trust” is a verb- an action word. “To trust” it is something you do. There are so many in the world today who put their faith and trust in the wrong thing. They trust in the “world system” of government, false religion, false gods, money, materialism, and man. They have a false hope of eternity. Psalm 118:8-9. "However, we as Christians, those who have put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ have a future and a hope. A hope and trust that is real." I Peter 1:3. "We can trust in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead and therefore we will have a resurrection unto life."

All through the Bible we find the people of God putting their trust in the Lord. All through the Psalms we see how David trusted God. Psalm 34:8 “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man who trust in Him.” Psalm 37:3-4 “Trust in the Lord and do good, dwell in the Lord and feed on His faithfulness” V4- “Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 30:10 “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked, but he who trusts in the Lord, many shall surround him.” Psalm 91:2 “He is my refuge and fortress, My God, in Him will I trust.”

Solomon his son was taught to trust in the Lord for wisdom and direction. “So when He faced a giant, he knew he could trust God to help Him” 1 Samuel 17:37. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Psalm 12:6 “Every word of God is pure, He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” Nahum 1:7, The prophet Nahum writes, “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble and He knows those who trust in Him.” From these Bible verses we can see those who put their trust in God when they needed Him most.

There are many areas of our lives that we need to trust God. We must trust God when we pray and believe that He will act upon our prayers. Let’s look at what Jesus said about prayer. Mark 11:23-24 “For assuredly, I say to you, Here Jesus assures us that when we ask, say believe and receive He will act. “Whoever says to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea does not doubt in his heart- now here Jesus says doubt can be impediment (a thief) to answered prayers. Here is where trust comes in. When you believe and ask or say- you must trust God and not doubt until you see the answer. The devil will attack your thoughts, to try to get you into doubt. But take the thoughts into captivity and cast them down. “But believers that do those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Faith-Trust-is the key- staying with God for the answer to prayer.

We must trust God for our salvation and deliverance from sin and its power. Ephesians 1:13-14 “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in who also, having believed you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise. V14 “who is the guarantee of our salvation until redemption of the purchased possession to the praise of His glory. Know that God has purchased us. I Corinthians 6:20 “you were bought with a price….” We can have confidence that because we trusted in Jesus Christ we will live with Him for all eternity. I Thessalonians 4:16-18- Comfort with these words.

You must put your trust in the Lord when you are going through the storms of life. Like David when he faced his enemies and trials Psalm 71:1 “In you, O Lord, I put my trust, Let me never be put to shame.” V5 “For you are my hope, O Lord God, you are my Trust from my youth.” Psalm 23:4 “Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me, your Rod and your Staff comfort me.” As you completely trust God He will bring you through and comfort you- give you peace. You must trust God for your life and finances. He will meet your needs. Trust Him for an abundant life that He came to give you- John 10:10. Philippians 4:19, “He will supply all of your needs…”

You must trust Him to take care of your children and your family. Since you are an heir of salvation, He puts angels on assignment for you. Hebrews 1:14. We can rest in the fact that God is watching over us to protect us: Psalm 91:4-5 V10 “No evil shall befall you. V11- “For He shall give His angels charge over you. To keep you in all your ways.” Trust God to take care of your children. Matthew 18:10 “their angels always behold his face, see the face of my Father who is in Heaven.” They have a guardian angel assigned to them, always waiting to hear from the Father. Activate with your prayers over your children, and then trust God for His protection. Psalm 103:20-21. So trust the Lord for every area of your life knowing that God has started a good work in you and He will complete it. Philippians 1:6

                                                          Amen!
