The Steps to Excellence in Your Life- Part 2

The Steps to Excellence in Your Life- Part 2

We have talked about the first three steps that will lead to a life of excellence. The word excellence here means something of value, worth and distinction. I said that your life becomes so much more when you come to Jesus Christ. You begin to have a life of worth, value and distinction.

The first three steps are: 1.) Dedication- making Jesus and His Kingdom the top priority, living a life of faith and walking by faith. 2.) Get a vision or purpose for your life. Don't be afraid to step out in faith. 3.) Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God, the inner unction of the Holy Spirit and the voice of conscience. If you are being led by God you will always have peace. Now I want to continue to the fourth step:

4.) Love not the things of the World. 1 John 2:15-17 says, "Do not love the world or the things in the world...the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life..."

You are in the world but not of the world. Jesus prayed for you and me. John 17:16-17 says, "Sanctify them through thy word." To be sanctified is to be set apart from the world. We must strip everything that is of the world from our lives, until there is nothing but the word of God. We must root sin out of our lives. Strip away any negative confession. Control your words. Confess daily who you are in Christ and what He is able to do for you. Confess you have been redeemed from the curse of the law. Galatians 3:13-14 says, "Confess the blessing of Abraham over your life." (Deuteronomy 28:1-8) Don't allow the "care of the world" to choke the word out of your life (Mark 4:19).

5.) The next step is number 5 and it is to look to the word of God day and night. The word of God will produce several effects in your life that you cannot get any other way. a.) You will obtain God's favor. b.) You will increase in faith as well as your understanding of how to use your faith.

By staying in the word of God you will gain the favor of God. By hearing God's word (Romans 10:17) faith will increase. When you are living in the favor of God and as your faith increases, your life will be one of excellence.

Look to the Word day and night. (Proverbs 4:20-22) (Joshua 1:8) Here you will find divine health and a life of success. Humble yourself under God's hand and He will promote you. (1 Peter 5:6-7) The Word of God and the Spirit of God will help you overcome the flesh. (Romans 8:5-6) There is a time when the Word will control the spirit, soul and body. God will exalt you as you exalt the word. Walk in love, for faith works by love.

6.) The sixth step to a life of excellence is a life of prayer and fasting. The purpose of fasting is not to influence God into acting in our behalf. Abstaining from God does not impress Him. It's purpose is to shut off the influences of our faith in order to be in tune with the spirit. (Mark 9:29)

Fasting helps us to receive from God, but does not push God into action. We are "getting ourselves into a position to receive from God."

When you fast and then pray, your spiritual ears are more in tune to hearing from God. God wants to fellowship with you and fasting helps remove so much "spiritual junk food." Isaiah 58:11-12 gives some benefits of your fasting and praying. The Lord will guide you, satisfies the soul, strengthens your bones, and waters you. Verse 14 says, "delight yourself in the Lord, ride on the high hills, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob." (Deuteronomy 32:9-14) Here we see how God took care of Jacob (Israel). He will do the same for you.

Let's look at the proper way to fast:

1.) Decide the purpose of the fast.

2.) Proclaim the fast to the Lord.

3.) Believe before the fast that you will receive the reward of the fast. Believe in faith.

4.) Minister to the Lord while you are fasting- praise and worship.

5.) Minister to others during the fast.

When you do these things according to God's Word, you will see and reap the benefits of the fast. Pray always, pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

As you apply these steps to your life, you will lead the life of excellence. Forsake the things of the world, like Moses did (Hebrews 11:24-26)

Look only to the word of God day and night. Confess it, meditate on it, memorize it, apply it, and do it. This wil bring you a life of excellence.

Then pray and fast after. Pray everyday and fast when the Lord calls.

When you apply these 6 steps to your life it will be a life of victory and excellence. You will be happy, and full of peace and joy.

     Let's review:

1.) Dedicate your life.

2.) Get a vision.

3.) Be led by the Holy Spirit.

4.) Separate from the world.

5.) Look to the word of God daily.

6.) Fast and pray.

Amen.
