The Power of God

1 Corinthians 1:18 says, "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God."

The Apostle Paul says in Romans 1:16 says, "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it (the gospel) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, 'The just shall live by faith.'"

Paul says that the Gospel, the Good News that Jesus, the Christ died for our sins on the cross, was buried and rose on the third day, and then ascended to His Father, my God and His God. When this gospel is preached and proclaimed, the Holy Spirit comes on the scene. Then man is compelled to face the reality of his own sin and guilt, the inevitability of divine judgement and the need for a perfect substitue (Jesus) to make atonment for sin.

The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is the dynamite power that blasts away our own sinful self-reliance. John 16:8-10 says the Holy Spirit is at work today convicting or convincing mankind of sin, righteousness and judgement. Notice Paul says, "...from faith to faith." This means righteousness is recieved by faith in Jesus Christ and in turn it it revealed in our lives by our faithful living. So, we are to live by faith. This is a lifestyle characterized by faith and righteous living.

Going back to 1 Corinthians 1:23 Paul writes, "But we preach Christ crucified to the Jews a stubling block and to the Greeks, Christ (the Annointed One), the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 2:2 says, "I determine not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." In other words, Paul says, the simple message of the cross is the power of God. Verse4 says, "My words were not words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power." Verse 5 says, "that your faith should not be in wisdom of men but in the power of God."

The power comes in the fact that because He died on the cross, we can live.

Ephesians 2:1 states your condion before you heard the gospel: "And you He made alive, who wer dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world. according to the prince of the power of air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobediance." You walked with the devil, fulfilled the lust of the flesh, your nature was that of children of wrath. You were lost with no hope.

But then you hear the power of the Gosepl. Ephesians 1;13 says, "In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise."

Go back to Ephesians 2:1- "And you He made alive." Verse 6 says, "And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus." Verse 10 says, "For we are His workmanship; created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

Romans 8:11 says, "The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you. He will also give life to your mortal bodies through the Spirit who dwells in you." This Spirit dwelling in you is the power of God. It makes you spiritually alive. It gives you power. You have the very life of God on the inside of you.

Let's go over to 2 Corinthians 4:10-11. Here Paul says thelife of God in our spirits is to be manifested in our bodies. This life manifested becomes evident.

In Romans 6:14 Paul writes, "For sin shall no have dominion over you." Verse 18 says, "And having been set free from sin, you become slaves of righteousness." Verse 19 says, "...so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness." Verses 22 and 23- "But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 5:24 says, "He that hears my Word and believes on Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life." You get eternal life now. This life begins to dominate you. Allow this life to govern your life. Allows God's power through His Word to have first place in your life. This is the power of God operating in you. Thn you can speak forth the Word of Faith. Speak to the circumstances that have you bound. Command them to come in line with the Word of God.

Speak to the storm of mountain in your life that appears on the horizon and say, "Peace be still." And there will be calm. For this is the power of God at work in your life. To some it is foolisness, but to us who believe by faith-- it is the power of God.

God desires to absolutely immerse you in His life and in His Spirit. He wants you to step into the water of His Spirit. Allow His power to immerse you. Let your self go, be in obediance like Naaman. Step into the water. Dip in that water. Take a drink of that water. Allow God's power to have all of you. Alow the power of God loose in your life.
