The Need of Spiritual Power

We are in one of the times Jesus called “the distress of nations.” The church needs to find the power of God and start operating in it.

We as a church need to reach this generation with the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. This will be done through the mighty enduement of power, which comes when Jesus baptizes us in the Holy Spirit. Matthew 3:11… He (Jesus) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.” Luke 24:49 “Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you... until you be endued with the power from on high.”

Here Jesus was talking about another experience of the Holy Spirit. When we accepted Jesus we were filled with the Holy Spirit and baptized unto the Body of Christ. I Corinthians 12:13. This gets you ready for Heaven. Through the New Birth you are “born again” and saved. John 3:3. Titus 3:5. This gives you power to overcome sin in your life and to live as a Christian. Romans 6:14. But there is another experience that God wants for us and this enduement of Power from on High gets you ready to do more in the Body of Christ. John 14:12. It gives you boldness and power for the hour. Acts 1:8 The Holy Spirit will come “upon” you. A special enduement of power. A good example of this type of power is found in the Old Testament. The Story of Samson. You may recall he had supernatural strength when the power of God was “upon” him. Judges 14:6 “And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily ‘upon’ him,..” V19 “the Spirit of the Lord came upon him mightily.” Chapter 15:14-16. “The Spirit upon him and he killed 1000 Philistines.” You can see how God endued him with power to fight against the enemies of Israel. But today in the New Covenant God wants us to have the Power of the Holy Ghost to fight against the “spiritual enemies of Israel and the church.” Ephesians 6:12. Spirits of Darkness.

When the church began on Pentecost in Acts 2:2-4 all were filled and endued with power from on High. The church operated in that power all through the Apostle Age up to 100 A.D. The church began to lose some of its power when man began to exchange God’s power for Liturgy and Ceremony. This is like what happened to Samson when he laid his head in the lap of Delilah. Judges 16:16-20. In the same way the church was lulled to sleep by the devil and his instruments and the gifts and power were taken out of the church. When you study church history you see more and more heresies enter into the church. Augustine by 400 A.D. had allegorized the Bible. By the time we get to the church today all of the sectarian denominationalism has denied and robbed the people of God, of their rightful heritage of God in this generation. Just like Samson, they are left blind, bound and grinding at the Mill of religious organizations. Judges 16:21.

Many churches today are too proud of denominationalism to be identified with the same power of the Book of Acts. No more speaking in tongues, no more miracles of mercy, no more gifts of the Holy Ghost.

But in these last of the last day, the Spirit is being poured out on all flesh. Acts 2:17. Around the world the church is coming alive in the Spirit. It can’t be stopped, China, India, Africa, all over the world. Judges 16:22 said Samson’s hair began to grow back- Glory to God the power was coming back. V28-30 God gave him power again. Isaiah 59:19. God’s power is greater than the enemy. Jesus is the same in power and promises. Hebrew 13:8. This power is greater than sectarianism. The walls of separation are coming down in this last hour of the Church age. The promise is to you. Acts 2:39. God is calling for hungry hearts that want His power. Zachariah 4:6 “but by my Spirit says the Lord of Hosts.”  Amen.
