The Danger of Compromise

The word compromise means “to settle or accept concessions.” This is a dangerous word for Christians and the church. It generally means that “concessions” are made for the world system.
Jesus lived in the world, but He did not make “concessions” or compromise with the world system. John 14:30. He is our example not to compromise with the world system. We are to be “sanctified” or set apart from the evil system. John 17:17. The word “sanctify” means “to be set aside for Holiness.” Jesus says that “we are sanctified by Gods truth. His truth is His “word.” By filling our spirit man full of God’s Word. Romans 12:2. John’s letter to the church warns the church not to love the things of the world. I John 2:14. Even though we live in the world and our daily lives have all of the influences of the world system, we must be on guard not to “compromise our values” with the world system.
Ephesians 4:17-19. The Apostle Paul warns the church not to live like the “gentiles” those that don’t know God. V18 “having their understanding darkened being alienated from the life of God, because of ignorance that is in them. Because the blindness of their heart.” It is Satan that has blinded them through “deception”- for he is the god of this world system. We as believer’s must not fall for the “deception” that is in the world system. One of the “deceptions” being taught today is that everyone will be saved- universalism. God is a God of love and that no one goes to hell. In fact, there is no “literal hell.” Another deception is that all religions lead to God. That Jesus is not the only way to God. Groups will say “come and be a part of us- because we are all one- children of God.” The truth is there is only one-way to God the Father. Jesus is the only way. Another area of compromise is what we allow our children to read or watch. For example- “Harry Potter” is “witch craft.” Be careful to check the homework assignments of your school kids. Don’t compromise with the system. Kids- youth don’t compromise on “abstinence.”  Our churches are not to compromise on the institution of “marriage.” We are not to compromise on the Word of God. I Corinthians 6:9-11. The Word says that these will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But God’s Mercy is to those who will “surrender” to Him. “But you were washed, but you were ‘sanctified’ but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” Too many churches today are “compromising” on the message of God’s Word. Compromise is a sin and these are consequences of this sin. They don’t preach on “sin,” and judgment, and the Cross, and the Blood of the Cross. They preach “feel good” messages so you can feel good about yourself and how to live life like everyone else and no one will be able to tell the difference between a Christian and a non-Christian. What about “holiness” and living a life of “surrender” and not self-sacrifice.
We are to live a life of “sanctification.” II Corinthians 6:14- “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” V16- what agreement has the Temple of God with idols?...V12- “come out from among them and be separate…” V18 “I will be a Father to you and you shall be my sons and daughters.”… II Corinthians 7:1 “let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
In these last days of the church age, we as Christians are to take a stand on the issues before us and not “compromise.” Some of the issues are: abortion, sanctity of marriage, using the name of Jesus, praying in Jesus’ name, all religions are the same. We just can’t compromise on these issues. You must support the “truth of God’s Word.” Vote Gods Word in the elections. Do your part vote and support only candidates that have Christian values and morals. Don’t compromise in your life. Stay true to God’s Word. Hebrews 10:35-36-“Do not cast away your confidence which has great reward. For you have need of abundance so that after you have done the will of God you may receive the promise.” –eternal life. V37- “For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and not tarry (delay).” Stay strong in the faith; don’t compromise. Do your part!

                                                                                      Amen.
