Our Authority As Believers

Believers authority in Christ Jesus

One of the most powerful revelations you can get hold of as a believer concerns the authority God has gvien you in Christ Jesus.

If you are going to live the abundant life (John 10:10) God intended for you, it is essential that you understand the basis of your spiritual authority and how to exercise it.

You must also believe you have a personal adversary who is out to destroy you (1 Peter 5:8).

The Apostle Paul received the revelation of the believer's authority along with the other apostles.

Jesus had already given them spiritual authority during His early ministry.

Let's look at Luke 9:1-"And He gave them power and authority over ALL demons and to cure diseases..."

Jesus gave this authority and the power that came with it through the Holy Spirit.

Again, in Luke 10:19-"Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and over all the power of enemy, nothing shall hurt you."

Then in Mark 16:17-18-"These signs shall follow those who believe." This authority is transferred to the church.

"In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues...They will lay hands on the sick and they will recover."

Know this; The name of Jesus is highly exalted and it carries with it all the power contained in the universe (prophetic word).

John 14:12-14-"For he who believes the works I do, you will do also and greater works than these..." "Whatever you ask in My name!!"

So we can see Jesus gave authority to His disciples, but then He transferred this authority to the church. Matthew 28:19 says, "Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations." Matthew 19:20 says, "I am with you always..."

This authority has now been conferred upon the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. But it was Paul who shows us this authority.

Let's read Ephesians 1:19-23. These Scriptures show us the basis for our authority.

Ephesians 1:20-22 says that Christ Jesus is seated in heavenly places and He put all things (all evil powers) under His feet.

Jesus is the Head of the church. We are the body.

Therefore all evil power is under the feet of the church. The only problem is that there are so many in the church today that do not know this or understand their authority.

Now let's go a step further. Ephesians 2:4-7. Ephesians 2:6 says, "...raised us up together and made us to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

In the mind of God, when Jesus was raised from the dead, you were raised with Him. GLORY TO GOD!!

When Jesus was seated beside the Father, you were seated with HIm. GLORY TO GOD FOREVER!!

Satan is under our feet.

The devil recognizes the spiritual authority of the believer, because he is a defeated foe and he has to obey the name of Jesus exercised in faith.

We must understand that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against spirirts. (Ephesians 6:12)

Paul lists these spirits. You see, you can operate in the delegated power of the Godhead!!

All the power of the Godhead is behind any believer who calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in faith. GLORY TO GOD FOREVER!!!!!

Know this: JESUS TOTALLY DEFEATED THE DEVIL!! Colossians 2:15 and Galatians 3:13-14 give us a clear picture. "Having disarmed principalities and powers (that is all the power of the devil), He made a public spectacle of them triumphing over them in it."

Again in Revelation 1:18-"I am He who lives and was dead and behold I am alive for forevermore and I have the keys (authority) of Hades and of death."

Hebrews 2:14 says, "...that throug death (Jesus' death) He might destroy him (the devil) who had the power of death, that is, the devil."

Jesus destroyed the devil's power of spiritual death over believers when He was raised from the dead.

That is good news!! Jesus delivered you from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). GLORY TO GOD FOREVER!!!!!

Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil.

When you know these truths and apply them to your life, it will absolutely set you free (John 8:32). That means that you, as a believer, can reign in this life as a king who has authority (Romans 5:17 (Amplified).

Kings have authority in their kingdoms. You should be taking authority over the circumstances of your life. You can have authority over the curse of poverty, sickness, and disease, sin, fear, anxiety and spiritual death. In other words every work of evil.

Know that Jesus came to destroy these works of the devil over you (1 John 3:8) so that you could live an abundant life.

When you know and understand this power that backs you up, you can face the enemy without fear.

You can immediately call on the name of Jesus in faith and authority and the devil will flee (James 4:7). (run in terror)

Now there is a difference in knowing your authority and exercising your authority.

This is very important: You must do something and put what you know into action.

You can know about your rights and privileges through Christ Jesus, but if you do not act upon that knowledge, it does not become reality to you.

I challenge you today to pray for wisdom and revelation concerning your authority in Christ Jesus.

Use your authority every day to be victorious.
