Living and Walking in the Spirit

Living and Walking in the Spirit

By Pastor Linda Roach

Clothed With The Spirit

I want you to know that God has a most magnificent plan for us in this life of the Spirit—in this abundant life!!

Listen to what Jesus Himself said in John 10:10: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Satan comes to steal and to kill and to destroy, but God has abundance for us-- **it is a full measure of abundance—a pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing measure of abundance (Luke 6:38).

**This abundance is God, the Creator of the Universe, filling us with His own personality and His own nature and His very presence, making us salt and light and pouring into us a divine revelation of Himself!!

**It is God With Us (Emmanuel) in all circumstances, situations, affliction, persecutions, and trials, girding us up with His truth!! GLORY TO GOD!!!!!

Christ Jesus is in control!! And our every thought, every word, and every action must be in line with Him, with no weakness or failure. Our God is a God of might, a God of light, and a God of revelation, preparing us for heaven.

Remember, our lives are “hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3 Amplified says, “For as far as this world is concerned, you have died, and your new, real life is hidden WITH Christ IN God.” And, not only that, “When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in the splendor of His glory” (Colossians 3:4 Amplified). GLORY!!

Second Corinthians 5:1, 4, and 5 (Amplified) say, “For we know that if the tent which is our earthly home is destroyed (dissolved), we have from God a building, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For while we are still in this tent, we groan under the burden and sigh deeply (weighed down, depressed, oppressed)—not that we want to put off the body (the clothing of the spirit), but rather that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal (our dying body) may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has fashioned us (preparing and making us fit) for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of the fulfillment of His promise.”

Know this: **God’s Word is a TREMENDOUS Word. **God’s word is a PRODUCTIVE Word. God's Word produces what it is—POWER!!

**God’s Word produces GOD-LIKENESS!! We obtain eternal life through Christ Jesus, the Word of God; we have peace through the Blood of His cross. Redemption is ours through the knowledge of the Word of God.

I am saved because God’s Word says so: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

If I am baptized with the Holy Spirit, it is because Jesus said, “You SHALL receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8).

Know this: **We must all fill our minds with this one thought: **To be filled with the Holy Spirit, to be filled with God, to be filled with the “EVERYTHING” of God!!

The Holy Spirit has a wonderful, royal plan. He has a glorious heavenly plan. He came to unveil the King, to demonstrate the character of God, to unveil and reveal the precious Blood of Jesus.

Because I have the Holy Spirit residing with me, I see Jesus clothed for humanity. He was moved by the Spirit and led by the Spirit. In Hebrews 4:2 we read of some who heard the Word of God but they did not benefit from the Word of God because faith was lacking in them. **We must have a living faith in God’s Word—a faith that is quickened and made alive by the Holy Spirit.

Did you know that a person may be saved and still be carnally minded? When many people hear about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, their carnal minds at once rise up against the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:7 tells us, “The carnal mind…is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.”

Remember in Luke 9:55 when the disciples of Jesus wanted to call down fire from heaven as a punishment against a Samaritan village for not welcoming Him and He said to them, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.”

Again, 2 Corinthians 5:4-5 says, “For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.”

**When we are clothed with the Spirit, our human depravity is covered and everything that is contrary to the mind of God is destroyed. God must have people for Himself who are being clothed with a heavenly habitation, perfectly prepared by the Holy Spirit for the Coming of the Day of the Lord.

Second Corinthians 5:2 Amplified says, “Here indeed, in this present abode, body, we sigh and groan inwardly, because we yearn to be clothed over (we yearn to put on our celestial body like a garment, to be fitted out) with our heavenly dwelling.”

Was the Apostle Paul speaking here only about the coming of the Lord? No. Yet this condition of preparedness on earth is related to our heavenly state.

Know this: ***Jesus Himself is coming soon to take out of the world a church that is a perfect bride—without spot of blemish. **And, when He comes, He must find in us a perfect yieldedness, with every desire subjected to Him.

The Holy Spirit has come to reveal Christ in us so that the glorious flow of the life of God may flow out of us to others, bringing rivers of living water to the dry and thirsty land.

Romans 8:10 says, “If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”

This is what God the Father has declared: Freedom from the law. “If we love the world, the love of the Father is not in us.”

1 John 2:16 Amplified says, “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh (craving for sensual gratification) and the lust of the eyes (greedy longings of the mind) and the pride of life (assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things)—these do not come from the Father but are from the world itself.”

**The Holy Spirit has come to breathe into us a new vision of a life in which the Lord Jesus is perfected in us.

“(God) has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” (2 Timothy 1:9-10).

We are saved and called with a holy calling—called to be saints (set-apart ones), holy, pure, Godlike, sons and daughters with power. It has been a very long time now since the debt of sin was cancelled, our redemption was secured, and death was abolished.

Yes, mortality is a hindrance, but death no longer has any power. Sin no longer has dominion. We reign in Christ Jesus and we have the authority to appropriate His finished work in our lives.

So, if you are in need, ONLY BELIEVE (Mark 5:36). ONLY BELIEVE. It is according to your faith that you will receive. “Then He touched their eyes, saying, ‘According to your faith and trust and reliance on the power invested in Me, be it done to you’” (Matthew 9:29 Amplified).

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God” (Colossians 3:1)

Let us stir ourselves up!! Where are you? You have been planted with Christ in the likeness of His death, and now you are risen with Christ in newness of life.

It was a beautiful planting! We are now seated with Him in heavenly places! “And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together (giving us joint seating with Him) in the heavenly sphere (by virtue of our being) in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One)” (Ephesians 2:6).

So, determine in your heart to leave “Doubting Street.” Instead, purpose in your hear to live on “Victory Street.”

Remember, Jesus sent out the seventy and they all came back in victory (Luke 10:1-18).

Stretch your faith and dare to believe until there is not a single sick person, until there is no sickness at all, until everything that is not God is withered and dried up, and the triumphant life of Jesus is implanted within.
