June 2018 Pastor's Update:

Building Update:

Our building is slowly, but surely coming back together. We have repaired all the water damage, replaced flooring, and cleaned up what we can. We should have electricity back in the North side of the church within the week and they will begin setting the steel in 6-8 weeks. We are in the process of clearing the debris. Our church will be back up and running normally soon, but for now we must Press On!

Youth Update:

Our youth headed out for Christ for the Nations this week! They are excited and we pray that they will be filled with the Spirit and blessed on their journey in Christ.

Now on to our message:

The Fatherhood of God

When we study the Word of God, we find that God is our Father. It was He who ordained the family unit in the God is our Father. It was He who ordained the family unit in the Garden of Eden. He "set" Adam to be the natural father of the human race.

When we come to the Lord Jesus Christ, we are "set" into God's family. In Ephesians 3:14-15 Paul writes, "...I bow my knees tot he Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named."

Now, our family is a heavenly family. The Greek word here for "family" is "fatherhood." God is our heavenly Father and we are a memeber of His beloved family.

Ephesians 1:6 says,"...by which He amde us accepted in the Beloved."

His family is a royal family.

1 Peter 2:5 tells us that we are "a spiritual household (the church), a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices unto God--the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Verse 10 says,"...but are now the people in the family of God..."

This tells us that we are an elite race and truly we are born of heaven, born of God--His very own family. We are allowed to walk here on earth as sons of God. John 1:12-13.

1 John 13:1-2 says,"...that we should be called the children of God...Now we are children of God..."

Here from the Word we see we are sons of the Living God and part of His royal family.

The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 8:16-17, "The Spirit (the Holy Spirit) bears witness with our spirit (the recreated spirit) that we are children of God and if children, the heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ..."

We are born into God's family by the spiritual new birth (1 John 5:1). Then He turns around and adopts us into His family, Ephesians 1:5 says that we can call out to Him as Father. Galatians 4:4-7 says,"...God has sent the Spirit of His Son into your hearts crying out, 'abba Father.'"

You are no longer a slave, but a son, and if not a son, then an heir of God through Christ. We can come to the Father and fellowship with Him and cry out to Him in a time of Need. Hebrews 4:16.

Jesus showed God as Father in the Lord's prayer: "Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Your name..." We see God the Father, full of Mercy and grace. He is love. He is God the Father, full of mercy and grace. He is love. He is a God of justice and righteousness. He is not partial to anyone and He is full of loving kindness. We see that He chose us, His son and those He loves.

God the Father is the greatest example we have of fatherhood. We, as fathers, are to be full of love for our families, also. The father is to be the priest in the home. The spiritual leader of the family.

As a father, we must be full of grace and mercy, always ready to forgive becuse our Father God is the Father of forgiveness.

This is portrayed best in the Parable of the Lost Son in the fifteenth chapter of the Book of Luke.

The son had left home and gone into a backslidden state. He was out of fellowship with his father, but when he repented and wanted to come back to his father's house, the Word says,"...his father saw him and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him" Luke 15:20.

What a beautiful picture of our Father God's love, compassion, and forgiveness! This is a great example for us to follow.

Spend time with your children. Give them quality time. God the Father wants your fellowship and your quality time. "When you need help, run to the father and ask in faith" Luke 11:9-10.

Just as our heavenly father disciplines us, His children, human fathers are admonished to discipline their children in love, Proverbs3:11-12.

It is also the responsibility of fathers to train up their children in the ways of the Lord.

Today, I encourage you to get to know your heavenly father intimately. Spend some time and fellowship with him. Know that you are a member of His royal family. Know your rights and privileges in the family. You are a son or daughter and a joint-heir to Christ Jesus.

God the Father is always ready to give His children their heart's desire, Psalm 37:4.

What do you need from the Father God today?

Ask in faith and believe that you will receive and He will answer you.

He loves His children and He wants them to have the best. Remeber the family of God is a royal family and we are the members of the heavenly aristocracy!

Amen!
