May is a very busy month here at the church. We were involved with the ACA- Relay for Life. Also, we will be having a special service May 14th to observe the 70th anniversary of Israel. Also, we will be having the Crufi event standing with Israel on May 20th at 6:30 pm. This is also the first of pentacost.

I wanted to have a shor tmessage for Mother's Day.

Honoring Mothers:

Each year we celebrate a day especially set aside for us to remember and honor our mothers. In Ephesians 6:1-3 the Apostle Paul qoutes Deuteronomy 5:16 which says, "Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with promise...that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth." Paul says through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that of we will honor our paretns our lives will be more productive and we will live longer. We cannot over-emphasize the importance of a godly mother in the home. This is a mother who loves and nurtures her children and looks after all their needs, both physical and spiritual. This is a mother who will take the time to teach her children right form wrong and be an example of godliness for them. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." In today's society we desperately need the example of Chrisitan mothers to help mold the character of our children and young people. A generation fo Christian mothers can change the whole face of society. Know this: The influence of a mother upon the lives of her children whether positive or negative cannot be measured in human terms. Children absorb the example and the attitude of their mothers whether good or bad. Therefore, mothers must demonstrate to their children good, positive Christian attitudes and build on the love of God and faith in His word. Proverbs 1:8 says, "...do not forsake the law of your mother." Mothers should take the time to read bible stories to theri children using men and women of the bible to demonstrate Christian principles and character. Children love to hear about the heroes of the bible and the readily relate to them. A Christian mother lives out of the fruit of the spirit in her daily life as she displays honesty, temperance, gentleness, kindness, goodness and most of all---LOVE in front of her children. A mother demonstrates unconditional love. Children do not have to earn their mother's love. Mothers love heri children like God loves each of us---unconditionally. Know this Time is so important to children. All parents should make quality timewith their children a top prioriy. So many children are crying out for love these days. Proverbs 31:27-28 is a beautiful picture of the Godly mother: "She watches over teh ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her...but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." Each one of us can bring to remembrance the memories of our mother, whether she is still with us or has passed on to be with the Lord. Remember how she cared for you! Sacrificed for you! Loved you no matter what you did! That is the picture of how God loves and cares for us. Even when we fuss and fume and stomp our foot, He still loves and caares for us. There is something so supernatural about the love of a mother for her child and the love of the child for the mother. This love is supernatural because God himself has placed this love in our hearts. And as a child grows, this love becomes sronger and stronger. A Christian mother never stops praying for her child. Did you know that the prayers of a mother for her child are the most powerul prayers prayed on earth because the love of a mother for her child is the closest example we have of God's great love for us? So, let us take time to reminisce on our mothers, thanking our Heavenly father for them and for the positive influence they have had on our lives.

We will also have a special service for Mmorial Day. Visit our website at vccsatx.org.

God bless you,

Pastor Jerry
